Nal Hutta (translating as Glorious Jewel in Huttese) was the capital of Hutt Space and was located in the Y'Toub system. It was formerly a Republic world known as Evocar and was the original homeworld of the Evocii, whom were ousted by the Hutts in 15,000 BBY, who migrated to the Y'Toub system from their original homeworld of Varl, along with their servants the t'landa Til. The planet was controlled by the ancient ruling Hutt families, who also ruled its moon Nar Shaddaa from Nal Hutta.
Geography
Nal Hutta was a very large planet, though it had no natural heavy metals, and this caused its density to be less than on most worlds. The planet's oceans were inhabited by the Vippits. A day on Nal Hutta lasted 87 standard hours, and a year lasted 413 local days. There was also a massive, radioactive gas cloud, containing the planet Ganath, near Nal Hutta.
Nal Hutta had once been a jungle world though the Hutts transformed it into a polluted and burdened world. Much of the surface was covered by flat, marshy bogs, stagnant, muddy puddles and patches of sickly marsh grass inhabited by insects and spiders. The atmosphere was also polluted by strip-mining operations in the Nal Hutta's industrial centers, and a greasy rain drizzled down on the surface. Raw materials were constantly strip-mined from the planet's surface and shipped to the Nar Shaddaa for processing and export.
History
Hutts had owned property on Evocar millennia before they ousted the Evocii. In 25,100 BBY, the defeated Xim the Despot died in the dungeons of Kossak the Hutt's palace on Evocar (Tionese historians claimed that Xim was treacherously killed at the Third Battle of Vontor).
After the Hutts abandoned their homeworld Varl 15,000 BBY, they migrated across space and came to Evocar. Having decided that Evocar was a suitable home, they traded their technology with the Evocii in exchange for pieces of land on Evocar. The Hutts continued doing this until the Evocii realized that their homeworld had almost been bought out from under them. Hutt palaces, amusement parks and other constructions were built all over Evocar, and the Evocii could do nothing about it.
They appealed to the Old Republic, though the Republic sadly ruled in favor of the Hutts. The Evocii were eventually evicted from Evocar by the Hutts, and relocated to the planet's fifth moon, which would later be known as Nar Shaddaa, The Smuggler's Moon. On Nar Shaddaa, the Evocii began mutating due to the various technologies practiced on the moon. The Evocii were believed, incorrectly, to have died off from prolonged exposure to Nar Shaddaa's polluted atmosphere. Their descendants remained hidden in the lower levels of the Smuggler's Moon. Meanwhile, Evocar was renamed Nal Hutta by the Hutts.
Nal Hutta became the capital of Hutt Space and was controlled by the ancient ruling Hutt families, who also ruled its moon Nar Shaddaa. For a time, Nal Hutta and Nar Shaddaa prospered since they were located on popular trade routes. However, when the trade routes shifted, Nal Hutta and its moon became havens for smugglers, pirates, and other criminals.
During the Yuuzhan Vong invasion, Nal Hutta was conquered by the extragalactic aliens in retaliation for the Hutt's treachery. The Y'Toub system was surrounded by several of the Yuuzhan Vong's most deadly warships. Several organic creations were sent to Nal Hutta and its moon Nar Shaddaa for multiple purposes. Different types of bacteria killed most of the inhabitants, before processing their remains into the soil of Nal Hutta. Then all the technology on the planet was broken down and also absorbed into the soil. Then the Yuuzhan Vong Vongformed Nal Hutta to suit themselves. This process was ongoing, and the Yuuzhan Vong were reached out from the Y'Toub system, swallowing all of Hutt Space.
It is unknown if the Hutts returned to Nal Hutta after the War's end.
